From our suppliers we expect that the materials and components manufactured by them meet the specified and expectable maximum quality requirements thus promoting the constant improvement of the buses produced by NABI.
WHAT IS ISO?
ISO is an abbreviation for the International Organization for Standardization, a worldwide organization whose goal is to improve quality in countries throughout the world.
WHAT IS ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is a recognized standard of quality assurance for organizations that design, manufacture, install and service a product. This quality standard is recognized throughout the world. ISO 9001 applies to all aspects of a company: Personnel from management, engineering, quality assurance, sales, contract administration, design, purchasing, manufacturing, field service, etc. are all required to establish, maintain and adhere to documented procedures.
The Quality Management Principles of ISO:
• Customer Focus
• Leadership
• Involvement of People
• Process Approach
• System Approach to Management
• Continual Improvement
• Factual Approach to Decision Making
• Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationship
Thus, ISO 9001 registration is more than a "hallmark" of quality; it is a significant achievement.
WHAT DID NABI HAVE TO DO TO BECOME ISO 9001 REGISTERED?
To obtain registration to this demanding standard, an outside agency visited NABI's facilities in Anniston and Budapest and carried out an in-depth audit of the company's Quality Manual and all of its procedures, work instructions and actual practices throughout the organization. This on-site audit determined that we "say what we do..." and "…do what we say." Only when an auditing agency agrees can a company say it’s registered or "certified" to the ISO 9001 standard.
ISO 9001 has requirements covering 5 elements of a good quality assurance system. NABI has addressed each area of concern by spelling out in great detail policies, procedures and work instructions for everything we do. The 5 elements are as follows:
1. QUALITY MANAGEMANT SYSTEM 2. MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBITY
3. RESOURCE MANAGEMENT 4. PRODUCT REALIZATION
5. MEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS, AND IMPROVEMENT
ISO Registration has been a demanding challenge. NABI has met the challenge, and we have become a better company in the process. With ISO registration, NABI and its customers benefit greatly due to a results orientated approach to better understanding our Customer’s needs, working beyond “compliance” towards “excellence”, and going beyond “effectiveness” moving towards “efficiency”.
